Blood Drive Customer Service

BloodSource holds blood drives at businesses, schools, churches and community organizations throughout our service area. You would assist with refreshments, education and other tasks. You can choose drives that conveniently fit your schedule.
Refreshment Lounge
For those who enjoy:
- talking with people from all walks of life.
- providing cheerful customer service and refreshments to donors after their donation.
Often the most popular area at BloodSource, donors spend 15 minutes enjoying juice and snacks. You would serve snacks and remind donors to stay for the full 15 minutes, plus ensure they drink plenty of juice and watch for rare, but potential reactions to the donation process.
Special Events
For those who enjoy:
- providing a sense of welcome
- creating a festive atmosphere
Several times a year, special events or blood drives take place at BloodSource facilities.
Volunteers are always needed to help with decorations, childcare, refreshments, games and other day-of-event tasks.
Delivery
For those who enjoy:
- working with a team.
- being an important link.
- safe driving and being outdoors.
Hospitals depend on BloodSource for timely transportation of blood. Volunteers assist our hospital services department by making deliveries to local and Northern California counties. A valid driver’s license and the ability to lift shipping containers is required.
Marrow/Blood StemCell Support
For those who enjoy:
- helping to educate people.
- a variety of assignments.
BloodSource recruits and registers local donors for the National Marrow Donor Program. This registry provides lifesaving matches for patients across the country. Volunteers are needed to assist with marrow drives, clerical assignments, educational outreach, health fairs, and special projects.
Telephone Recruitment
For those who enjoy:
- talking with people.
- coordinating busy schedules.
You’ll work with employees and volunteers to call previous donors, thank them for their past donation, and ask them to schedule another appointment. Tact and understanding are needed to balance our organization’s need for blood and the donor’s busy lifestyle. Most donors are pleasant and believe in the importance of giving blood.
Clerical
For those who enjoy:
- working with others.
- task-oriented assignments.
BloodSource frequently communicates with donors by mail. While volunteering, you can enjoy the flexibility to visit with other volunteers.
